As a material, Silicone is valued for an exceptionally wide service temperature range, physiological inertness and low toxicity. Expect good resistance to extreme heat and cold, dry heat, and ozone and UV exposure. Continuous operating temperature is published at -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). Applications involving hydrocarbon fuels and oils or abrasive dynamic service call for a different compound.
