APG stocks the S2X8, a red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring with an inside diameter of 8 mm (0.315 in), a cross section of 2 mm (0.079 in), and an outside diameter of 12 mm (0.47 in). An o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

The material holds up against many oxidizing chemicals, weathering, and dry heat. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Silicone offers very good compression set resistance across its range and flexibility that holds at very low temperatures. Continuous operating temperature is published at -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). It should not be specified for service in concentrated acids or steam above its rated range.
