An o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

As a material, PTFE-Encapsulated Viton® offers a non-stick sealing surface that resists fouling and long service life in aggressive chemical duty. This material stands up to aggressive oxidizers, steam, and strong acids and solvents. The material carries a published service range of -75°F (-59.4°C) to 400°F (204.4°C).

It sees regular use in chemical processing, aggressive-media valves and pumps, and semiconductor equipment.
