TSP022 is an AS568-022 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring measuring an inside diameter of 0.989 in (25.12 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.129 in (28.68 mm). In service, this back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

The material holds up against nearly all industrial chemicals, strong acids and bases, and oxidizing media. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) is specified for excellent dielectric properties and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in service requiring elastic recovery or molten alkali metals.
