This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-027 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D measuring an inside diameter of 1.301 in (33.05 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.441 in (36.6 mm), catalogued under part number TSP027. It bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

Expect good resistance to strong acids and bases, solvents, and steam. PTFE (Teflon) delivers one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and excellent dielectric properties. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). Applications involving service requiring elastic recovery or molten alkali metals call for a different compound.
