This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-028 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 1.364 in (34.65 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.504 in (38.2 mm), catalogued under part number TSP028. It allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for very wide continuous service temperature range and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Expect good resistance to strong acids and bases, steam, and solvents. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals.
