TSP041 is an AS568-041 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 2.989 in (75.92 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.129 in (79.48 mm). In service, this back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

The material holds up against strong acids and bases, nearly all industrial chemicals, and solvents. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) is specified for excellent dielectric properties and near-universal chemical inertness. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. Applications involving molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature call for a different compound.
