This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-123 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 1.174 in (29.82 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.38 in (35.05 mm), catalogued under part number TSP123. It bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

Expect good resistance to strong acids and bases, oxidizing media, and solvents. PTFE (Teflon) offers one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and a very wide continuous service temperature range. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature are present.

Typical settings include chemical processing, semiconductor fabrication, and pharmaceutical and biotech.
