This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-134 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D with an inside diameter of 1.862 in (47.29 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.068 in (52.53 mm), catalogued under part number TSP134. It bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

This material stands up to solvents, steam, and nearly all industrial chemicals. PTFE (Teflon) is specified for excellent dielectric properties and near-universal chemical inertness. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals will shorten service life.
