The TSP136 is an AS568-136 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 1.987 in (50.47 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.193 in (55.7 mm). This back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and a very wide continuous service temperature range. It resists nearly all industrial chemicals, steam, and solvents. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. It is not the right choice where elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery are present.

It sees regular use in semiconductor fabrication, pharmaceutical and biotech, and laboratory equipment.
