TSP228 is an AS568-228 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 2.234 in (56.74 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.512 in (63.8 mm). In service, this back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

The material holds up against steam, strong acids and bases, and solvents. PTFE (Teflon) is known for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and a very wide continuous service temperature range. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). Verify compatibility before use with elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery.

It sees regular use in semiconductor fabrication, pharmaceutical and biotech, and food and beverage.
