This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-230 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D with an inside diameter of 2.484 in (63.09 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.762 in (70.15 mm), catalogued under part number TSP230. It allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

This material stands up to solvents, steam, and nearly all industrial chemicals. PTFE (Teflon) is valued for a very wide continuous service temperature range and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature will shorten service life.

It sees regular use in pharmaceutical and biotech, food and beverage, and chemical processing.
