Part number TSP274 is an AS568-274 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 9.984 in (253.59 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 10.262 in (260.65 mm). A back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

The compound resists steam, nearly all industrial chemicals, and solvents. PTFE (Teflon) offers excellent dielectric properties and near-universal chemical inertness. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Applications involving molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery call for a different compound.
