Ordered as TSP337, this is an AS568-337 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 2.975 in (75.57 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.395 in (86.23 mm). The back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified for a very wide continuous service temperature range and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. It resists oxidizing media, nearly all industrial chemicals, and solvents. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature are present.

Common environments for this compound include food and beverage, aggressive-media pipelines, and semiconductor fabrication.
