Ordered as TSP353, this is an AS568-353 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 4.975 in (126.37 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 5.395 in (137.03 mm). The back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and near-universal chemical inertness. This material stands up to strong acids and bases, nearly all industrial chemicals, and solvents. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). Applications involving elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery call for a different compound.

Typical settings include aggressive-media pipelines, food and beverage, and chemical processing.
