APG stocks the TSP432, an AS568-432 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 5.35 in (135.89 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 5.9 in (149.86 mm). A back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.
Expect good resistance to nearly all industrial chemicals, strong acids and bases, and solvents. PTFE (Teflon) delivers non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature will shorten service life.
Common environments for this compound include semiconductor fabrication, pharmaceutical and biotech, and laboratory equipment.
Stocked as TSP432 and sold individually. Nominal inside diameter is listed as 5 3/8 inch. Application requirements vary, so validate compatibility with your process conditions prior to installation. APG supports cross-referencing from drawings, samples and competitor numbers when a listed size is not an exact fit.
