Ordered as TSP442, this is an AS568-442 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring measuring an inside diameter of 7.225 in (183.52 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 7.775 in (197.49 mm). The back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) offers a very wide continuous service temperature range and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. The compound resists nearly all industrial chemicals, steam, and oxidizing media. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where service requiring elastic recovery or molten alkali metals are present.

It sees regular use in laboratory equipment, chemical processing, and food and beverage.
