TST005 is an AS568-005 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 0.101 in (2.57 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.241 in (6.12 mm). In service, this back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for very wide continuous service temperature range and excellent dielectric properties. This material stands up to nearly all industrial chemicals, solvents, and steam. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Verify compatibility before use with elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals.

Typical settings include chemical processing, aggressive-media pipelines, and semiconductor fabrication.
