The TST018 is an AS568-018 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 0.739 in (18.77 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.879 in (22.33 mm). This back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) offers a very wide continuous service temperature range and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. This material stands up to strong acids and bases, steam, and nearly all industrial chemicals. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals will shorten service life.

It sees regular use in semiconductor fabrication, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical and biotech.
