The TST134 is an AS568-134 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 1.862 in (47.29 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.068 in (52.53 mm). This back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for a very wide continuous service temperature range and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. It resists steam, oxidizing media, and strong acids and bases. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. It should not be specified for service in molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery.

It sees regular use in pharmaceutical and biotech, laboratory equipment, and food and beverage.
