The TST136 is an AS568-136 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 1.987 in (50.47 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.193 in (55.7 mm). This back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) offers one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and excellent dielectric properties. Expect good resistance to solvents, nearly all industrial chemicals, and steam. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. Applications involving molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery call for a different compound.
