This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-227 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 2.109 in (53.57 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.387 in (60.63 mm), catalogued under part number TST227SO. It installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.
As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is specified for near-universal chemical inertness and a very wide continuous service temperature range. This material stands up to strong acids and bases, solvents, and oxidizing media. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals.
Maintenance and OEM teams specify it across semiconductor fabrication, aggressive-media pipelines, and food and beverage.
This item is sold individually under part number TST227SO. Review your operating media and conditions against this specification before installation. Not finding the exact configuration you need? APG cross-references from prints, samples and competitor part numbers.
