231 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

The TST231SO is an AS568-231 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring measuring an inside diameter of 2.609 in (66.27 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.887 in (73.33 mm). This back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

This material stands up to oxidizing media, steam, and solvents. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) offers near-universal chemical inertness and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C).
