232 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

Ordered as TST232SO, this is an AS568-232 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 2.734 in (69.44 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.012 in (76.5 mm). The back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

This material stands up to steam, strong acids and bases, and solvents. PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and excellent dielectric properties. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature are present.

It sees regular use in semiconductor fabrication, chemical processing, and food and beverage.
