260 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

Part number TST260SO is an AS568-260 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 6.484 in (164.69 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 6.762 in (171.75 mm). A back-up ring extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for very wide continuous service temperature range and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. The material holds up against steam, nearly all industrial chemicals, and oxidizing media. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C).
