263 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

Part number TST263SO is an AS568-263 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 7.234 in (183.74 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 7.512 in (190.8 mm). A back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for very wide continuous service temperature range and near-universal chemical inertness. The compound resists strong acids and bases, steam, and oxidizing media. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Applications involving molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery call for a different compound.
