266 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

The TST266SO is an AS568-266 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 7.984 in (202.79 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 8.262 in (209.85 mm). This back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and excellent dielectric properties. Expect good resistance to nearly all industrial chemicals, solvents, and strong acids and bases. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C).

It sees regular use in aggressive-media pipelines, chemical processing, and semiconductor fabrication.
