271 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

APG stocks the TST271SO, an AS568-271 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 9.234 in (234.54 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.512 in (241.6 mm). A back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is specified for a very wide continuous service temperature range and near-universal chemical inertness. It resists steam, nearly all industrial chemicals, and strong acids and bases. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature are present.
