Part number TST340 is an AS568-340 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 3.35 in (85.09 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.77 in (95.76 mm). A back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) delivers non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. The compound resists nearly all industrial chemicals, steam, and solvents. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. It is not the right choice where elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery are present.

Common environments for this compound include semiconductor fabrication, laboratory equipment, and aggressive-media pipelines.
