Part number TST430 is an AS568-430 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 5.1 in (129.54 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 5.65 in (143.51 mm). A back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and near-universal chemical inertness. It resists strong acids and bases, oxidizing media, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals.

Typical settings include aggressive-media pipelines, semiconductor fabrication, and laboratory equipment.
