451 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

The TST451SO is an AS568-451 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 10.975 in (278.77 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 11.525 in (292.74 mm). This back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

This material stands up to nearly all industrial chemicals, strong acids and bases, and steam. PTFE (Teflon) is known for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and a very wide continuous service temperature range. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature will shorten service life.
