456 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

The TST456SO is an AS568-456 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 13.475 in (342.27 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 14.025 in (356.24 mm). This back-up ring extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and very wide continuous service temperature range. The material holds up against oxidizing media, steam, and solvents. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C).
