It compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

Expect good resistance to abrasion and wear, petroleum oils, and extrusion under high pressure. Polyurethane (AU/EU) is specified for exceptional abrasion resistance and long wear life in dynamic reciprocating service. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 200°F (93.3°C).
